Etch Your Name in Wilber’s History

December 14, 2022

Have you heard???? This year Wilber turns 150 and we are throwing a party! We are looking for talented students, residents, past residents, art enthusiasts and hobbyists to help us to create a logo for the event. The logo will be used on all marketing materials and publications, commemorative items, to name a few. If your logo is chosen, your name will be etched in history through your work. See all of the details of entry below.

For more information or to submit your entry, email Shanon Meyer at [email protected].

Eligibility

  1. The contest is open to all current and former Wilber Residents.
  2. By entering, participants agree to be bound by the contest rules. Violating any rule or not following instructions may eliminate participants’ eligibility.

Submission Guidelines and How to Enter

  1. The contest opens today, December 2nd and closes on January 6th at 11:59 p.m. Central Standard Time (CST). Late submissions will not be considered.
  2. All entries must be submitted via email to [email protected]
  3. Submissions must include the full name of the person who designed the logo, email address, postal address, and telephone number.
  4. One or more submissions per person is acceptable. Each submission must be sent in a separate email.
  5. There is no fee to enter the contest.

Logo Design Guidelines and Parameters

  1. The logo should incorporate Wilber landscape, history, culture or community.
  2. Entries must be submitted as JPEG files. For quality reproduction purposes, the winning entry must later be submitted in scalable vector graphic format (EPS).
  3. Color must be CMYK, though the logo may also be reproduced in black and white. Contestants are advised to avoid gradients and half-tones.  No more than four colors should be used in the design.
  4. The logo must be easy to use, handle, resize, and manipulate for all reproduction purposes. It should be visually appealing on both small (as small as 2 cm x 2 cm) and large scales.

Intellectual Property

  1. All entrants affirm their submissions are their own original work, have not been copied from others or from previous designs, including their own, and do not violate the intellectual property rights of any other person or entity.
  2. The winning submission becomes the sole property of the City of Wilber and the Sesquicentennial Celebration Committee, including, but not limited to, display on websites, social media sites, posters, and other materials.
  3. The name of the winning entrant will be acknowledged on the website and the printed conference program.
  4. If the winner is determined to have violated any rules, he/she will be required to forfeit or return the prize, even if the determination is made after the prize has been awarded.

Determination of Winner and Prize

  1. The winning entry will be selected by a panel comprised of the organizing committee members. Their decision will be final and no further correspondence shall be entered into.
  2. Entries will be judged on their visual appeal, quality of design, and ease of reproduction for the purposes stated above.
  3. A winner will be selected and notified via email by late January 2023.
  4. Although there is no cash prize for the winning entry, the artist will be acknowledged during the conference, in the website and printed program, and receive a commemorative item from the event with their logo.

Disclaimer

  1. Conference organizers are not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, incomplete, illegible, or otherwise unusable entries, including entries that are lost or unusable due to computer, internet, or electronic problems.
  2. Conference organizers are not liable, for the purpose of winner and prize notification and delivery, in the event the contest winner has provided incorrect, outdated, or otherwise invalid contact information.
